Well I finished The 100. Not sure how I feel about the end. The last season’s timeline was confusing. I had a hard time figuring out how many days or years passed. I never saw the key character’s death in episode 13 of season 7 coming. That sucked. I’m glad Octavia ended up being the heroine of the story. She is my favorite character. Clark had an interesting journey to say the least. And it was awesome to see Murphy get redemption.
There were tons of biblical references including the end with judgment and a “transcendence” that was akin to a rapture. There was heaven and hell, and ironically a demon named Gabriel (an angel in the Bible.) Some of the references were:
“Blood must have blood” – “Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin.”
There were 12 stations on the Ark and 12 clans on the ground l, similar to 12 tribes of Israel. Of course there is the Ark itself i.e. Noah’s ark that saved humanity.
There was a “shepherd” who had disciples in season seven.
Thelonius went on a journey looking for a “city of light” with 12 people following him aka disciples.
When Thelonius was converting people to the city of light (a reference to heaven where there is peace and no pain) he gives them a chip to swallow which looked like people taking communion.
ALIE (Dr Rebecca Ferguson) destroyed the world by fire and wants to build the city of light with all people. She is a type of God who saved the first humans from a flood with an ark (the Ark was her spaceship). She destroyed the earth with fire (nuclear holocaust) which is how God will destroy the earth one day.
“You are Wonkru, or you are the enemy of Wonkru. Choose.” – “Choose this day who you will serve. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.”
The “Primes” gain immortality through a process they call “resurrection.” just like believers do. They get a new body too just like we will.
Kane gets sports a nice beard and long hair, invoking a western image of Jesus; and is hung on a cross with nails driven through his wrists, just like Jesus was hung.
I like what they said when a loved one died: “In peace, may you leave this shore. In love, may you find the next. Safe passage on your travels, until our final journey to the ground. May we meet again.” Death is not the end of life for a believer.
When they wanted to cuss someone else out they said “go float yourself.” Not biblical but funny as crap!
There were a lot of things that caught my attention and made me ponder for a bit on what it meant and how it pertained to life.
Over all I give this show 4-1/2 stars out of 5. It would have gotten 5 if that one death hadn’t occurred.
